Jumping in the USATF Jr Olympics National Championships in Greensboro NC on August 2, 2009.  Kopanski jumped 15'3" to win the championship. 

Michael Kopanski advanced to the USATF Nationals in Greensboro, NC on
August 2, 2009 by virtue of his 15'5" vault at the Region III championships in Landover Maryland last Sunday.  Kopanski finished 3rd with his vault and set a new personal best in the event as well as moving into 2nd place on the school all time list behind Cameron Cheek's 16'1".  Kopanski also finished 4th in the Young men's decathlon competition on the 10th and 11th at Landover just out of qualifying position for that event. 

Pole vaulter Michael Kopanski garners another post season award by being selected to the Atlanta Track Clubs 45th annual All Metro Track and Field Team. Kopanski was this years 5A state champion in the pole vault.  The rising senior has a personal best of 15'.

Hawks finish in second place behind Champion Parkview and just ahead of Grayson and Chapel Hill.  Led by 5A vault State Champion Michael Kopanski, runner up in the vault Aaron Chamblee, runner up in the discus Kevin Darley (new school record throw on his final attempt), third place in the shot Ramael Wilson, fifth place in the shot Ryan Robinson, and sixth place in the 300 hurdles Joey Mooney.
